An exciting and challenging opportunity has become available for an Operations Financial Manager within the Operations SBU in Ackermans. This position is based at our Support Centre in Kuils River and reports directly to the Chief Executive: Operations (Ops Director).

This Senior Leader oversees the advanced analysis, reports and forecasts of key Operations indicators to inform decision making to support the business strategy as well as applying financial management and governance within the Operations department and across approx. 1000 cost centres covering Operational activities across Southern Africa. The position plays a key advisory role to the Executive team and works cross functionally with other departments in the business.

Qualifications

Essential:

• CIMA/B.Com (Acc) (Honours)
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• CIMA/B.Com (Acc) (Honours) with 5 years + including cost management and managing budgets in a retail Operations Finance
environment (compulsory)
• Understanding of store operations and retail related KPI’s and measurements
• Knowledge of market trading environment and economics relevant to retail in Southern Africa
• Systems application knowledge (Business Intelligence, Financial)
• Knowledge of retail incentives schemes
• Knowledge of capital expenditure governance and reporting
• Strong leadership and people management skills in an advanced managerial capacity
• Capability to lead conversations and present in senior leadership forums
• Agility, resilience and stress tolerance to function successfully within a complex business environment

Key Responsibilities

• Business trend analysis that impacts on strategy in terms of sales, cost of doing business, store profitability, people analysis and
forecasts, shrinkage and store standards
• Accountability for the financial management and accuracy in reporting thereof within Operations
• Accountability for driving the budgeting process and preparing final budget submissions based upon company strategic
objectives.
• Accountability for the reporting of all key metrics within Operations relating to strategy and CSF’s (strategic scorecards)
• Store viabilities modelling and profitability
• Managing, updating and executing incentive schemes for Operational store staff
• Involvement with Property Board to guide on expansion or consolidation of footprint, market share and growth opportunities in
support of footprint expansion strategies
• Corporate governance
• Management of company assets (motor vehicles) including procurement, management of costs, disposal of assets, policies and
fleet management (maintenance, systems)
• Evolvement and updating of reporting techniques through BI applications via engagement with IT and Data stakeholders
