Manage and own the value chain optimization opportunities for the business and ensuring operational delivery of the strategy. Benefits realisation through value delivery and tracking of identified transformational/long term / continuous improvement initiatives. Work with both internal and external stakeholders to provide insight into the commercial and operational priorities of Food Retailing

Job description:

Management of Value Delivery Process:

To scope, co-create and operationalise the appropriate value delivery process and methodology before implementing it to the Foods teams and the broader matrix teams
Assist in developing a value chain steering structure to execute the stage gate decision process which is central to the overall Value Chain delivery process
Accountable for managing a risk and issues log that is communicated within the respective value chain steering structures and FLT
Leading collaboration and communication across the multiple functions in order to deploy Value Chain improvements and develop best practices across the business
Monitor and support the teams in documenting processes and deploying their Value Chain initiatives within agreed timelines
Build and manage relationships with stakeholders to ensure the initiatives are delivered

Reporting, Analytics and Value Optimisation:

Analyse monthly results and identify improvements to ensure the benefits are delivered to the Food Group’s P&L liaising with Foods Finance to ensure appropriate compliance and sign offs
Analyse margin and value chain performance based on defined goals/initiatives and track key milestones
Provide analytical support and tools for pricing decisions to achieve the Value Chain Strategy
To ensure the Value Chain trackers are accurate and reflect the latest information
To create weekly management information which provides visibility of progress and issues/risks to the Food Leadership Team and various Leadership teams and forums.
Help facilitate workshops with both internal and external stakeholders to identify new initiatives and value chain improvements
Manage interdependencies with other projects and business activities ensuring alignment ie Trusted Price Project, Imbewu, Category Assessments etc

Minimum requirements:

  • CIMA qualification, BCom Degree or related Commercial Degree
  • Agile Project/Program Management experience
  • Minimum 4-6 years proven track record of executing improvement programs within a product line
  • Analytical and data analysis capability
  • .Exposure to processes requiring compliance across multiple functions
  • Experience in or exposure to Value Chain thinking (Joint Value Optimisation Initiatives, Lean thinking, Six Sigma)

Understanding of the industry parameters/legislation/business principles
