Sappi: Millwright – February 2022
Sappi Ngodwana Mill requires a MILLWRIGHT to safely perform all maintenance tasks on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to ensure long-term plant reliability.
This role reports to the Maintenance Support.
The main responsibilities of this job are:
- Execute assigned scheduled and opportunity maintenance tasks
- Assist with the scoping of work
- Report plant defects and downtime details to Foreman
- Knowledge sharing within and across teams, coaching of peers with regards to plant specific aspects
- Perform 60 second risk assessment as per Sappi policy and procedures
- Perform tasks as per generally accepted engineering practices
- Create a safe work environment by identifying and managing risks associated with a task to be performed
- Fit, assemble, grind and shape metal parts and sub-assemblies to maintain production machines and other equipment.
- Install, test, connect, commission and modify mechanical equipment.
- Perform plant maintenance and remedial work according to SAP notifications, work orders and planned schedules, including during shuts.
- Will be required to cover breakdowns after hours and weekends on a standby basis.
- Report all defects and equipment risks to the direct supervisor.
- Scope and plan work orders as required.
The ideal candidate should have:
- Grade 12 / Equivalent NQF4 Qualification
- Recognised Millwright Trade Certificate (Manpower or SETA accredited)
- 2 Years post apprentice experience
- Must have mechanical/electrical fault-finding experience in an industrial environment
- Valid drivers License
