Overseeing of the effective repair and maintenance of all plant on site with the least disruption to the site. Attempt to achieve maximum availability for each item of plant on site.

Minimum Requirements

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Grade 12.
    • Qualified Artisan – (Phase training completed with relevant Trade Test passed).
    • Valid Driver’s License.

EXPERIENCE:

    • Grade 12.
    • National Diploma – Mechanical Engineering, alternatively at least:
    • Qualified Artisan – Section 13 Trade Test Qualification (Section 28 will not be considered).

Duties & Responsibilities

    • Adhere to organizational Safety and Quality requirements by complying with all PPE requirements as prescribed. Ensure compliance with organizational safety, health, environment and quality standards and procedures. Report any accident / incident immediately to your supervisor.
    • Liaise with supervisors on a daily basis; conduct tool inspections on a monthly basis; service according to Moolmans service card schedule; co-ordinate all daily services and ensure all support equipment and correct tooling are available to complete the service; service cards to be signed off on a daily basis; check tyre pressures on a daily basis and control all support equipment.
    • Keep the history files and AMT updated daily; check and sign all service cards on a daily basis on items you have repaired; completes paperwork / component slips concerning repairs to units; check and agree daily plant income before they are processed.
    • Sign and check all stores issues. Incorrect issues to be returned to store.
    • Initiate all relevant disciplinary actions.
    • Co-ordinate leave schedules of employees.
    • Control staff and quality of work at all times.
    • Responsible to control and discipline all employees under your control.
    • Plant will be expected to physically get involved in daily services and repairs.
    • Plant Foreman responsible to hand over shift to the next foreman.
    • Control oil consumption at all times and submits oil consumption report to the Plant Manager at the morning meetings.
    • Daily liaising with the production foreman re plant availability.
    • Follow up on breakdowns as a matter of urgency.
    • General tidiness and good housekeeping of workshop and other areas of responsibility.
    • Form production of any machine abuse and condition of pit floors.
    • Inform Production Manager timeously if the service / repairs are not completed in the scheduled time.
    • Comply with ISO 9002 standards.
    • Minimise fleet down time and treat with sense of urgency.
    • Perform such other duties of a similar or related matter that may be assigned by management from time to time.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

    • Mechanical and technical skills.
    • Apprenticeship (having served in a registered apprenticeship program and received a certificate of completion.
    • At least 3-5 years’ related work experience – post trade qualification.
    • Must have excellent knowledge of, and experience working on the following Equipment:
    • CAT 777 D, Komatsu 785-7, CAT, Liebherr, Komatsu Excavators, Dozers D9T / R.
    • Must be willing and able to work shifts.
