Requirements
- Grade 12.
- Accredited Firefighter 2 Certificate.
- Accredited Hazmat Operations Certificate.
- Code B driver’s licence.
- First Aid level 3 Certificate (in-dated) or higher qualification registered with the HPCSA.
- Wild-land Firefighter 1 and Respiratory Protection Certificates (advantageous).
- Driver Pump Operator Certificate (advantageous).
- Pass fitness assessments.
- Minimum of 3 years continuous firefighting experience inclusive of training period.
- No criminal record.
Key Performance Areas
- Carries out firefighting and emergency operations.
- Preparing for emergency incidents and protection to reduce the incidents and severity of fires and providing a safer environment for fire-fighters and communities.
- Performing basic level maintenance training on fire service appliances and equipment to ensure operational readiness of such equipment.
- Performs basic administrative functions.
- Managing training and skills development and the transfer of skills and knowledge.
Candidates who pass the fitness assessment will be required to:
- Pass a behavioural interview.
- Have their fingerprints taken for the purpose of checking criminal records.
- Undergo a medical evaluation.
- Undergo a compulsory drug test.
